NuWave is a rapidly growing agricultural tech company that has revolutionized the dehydration of fruits, vegetables, and hops. By utilizing vacuum microwave dehydration technology, NuWave produces state-of-the-art industrial dehydrators for food processors that not only increase their profits but also benefit the environment through its clean technology. We are looking to add a Food Innovation Manager that embodies NuWave’s core values of hard work, teamwork, exceptional customer service, and superior craftsmanship.
The successful candidate will manage the Food Innovation Team and will work collaboratively with a team of talented Engineers while commercializing and validating a revolutionary food dehydration technology. They will also work closely with the operation management team to ensure products are delivered in the appropriate schedule. The candidate will be expected to set and deliver on the expected standards of excellence set by different stakeholders (Internal and External). They will be responsible for the R & D, run demonstrations to potential clients, product development and training of clients for the Dehydration Vacuum Microwave machines.
Reports to: Director of Operations
•Responsible for the design and planning of experiments and trails including establishing product and process requirements to schedule pilot plant runs and determines pass/fail criteria of the process
•Responsible for conducting product development, evaluation, and analysis; collecting data: documenting and maintaining accurate data
•Assists with researching processes/product improvements and cost-saving opportunities. Assess products for nutritional, ingredient contents, and ensures products and processes meet regulatory compliance.
•Continues development of SOPs, and SSOP’s with regards to Dehydration standards, Ingredients evaluations and identify areas of opportunity for quality improvements.
•Maintains and enhances existing General Manufacturing Practice (GMP’s) and Food Safety Policies
•Participate in cross-functional training to ensure effective resolution of technical issues and support product innovation.
•Provides assistance to Quality Assurance contractor.
•Provide customer orientation and training on how to use the manufactured dehydration machines
•Responsible for adhering to all food safety, pre-requisite programs, and practices. Corrects and/or reports any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately. This includes wearing of all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
•Build relationships with our customers to create commercially viable products and transfer the technology
•May work with employees across different functions – Operation, QA, Sales, Marketing, and Production.
•Performs other duties as needed.
•PhD in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent
•Demonstrated Product Development Knowledge (5+ years of production or R&D laboratory experience); specifically with dehydration
•Experience working in an ISO 9001 accredited industry desirable
•Strong scientific and food technology knowledge.
•Strong computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and database navigation)
•Knowledge of food regulations with specific emphasis on dehydration, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
•Familiarity and understanding with laboratory procedures & equipment
•Able to keep good documentation, reports, and trend analysis
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Excellent interpersonal and client management skills
•Ability to see the big picture while not losing focus of the small details
•Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively
•Strong Work Ethic and Leads by example
•Willing and able to support the organization in tasks outside of the job description
•Must be willing to travel when required for projects.
•Must be able to lift 30 pounds
•Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods and navigate safely in an industrial environment (e.g., ladders, stairs, stationary and moving industrial equipment).
