What is Rapid, Low Temperature Dehydration (RLTD)?

Why Apply a Vacuum to Drying?

Lowering the pressure allows the water in food to vaporize at a lower temperature (room temperature). NuWave applies microwave energy in a strictly controlled manner to generate water vapor without heating the nutrients.

Traditionally microwaves are launched into a chamber where they bounce around creating a pattern of hot and cold spots (high energy and low energy). Microwave ovens move the food around on a plate to even out the hot and cold spots.

We control the energy into tightly defined regions. Rather than standing hot spots, NuWave controls the traveling waves of energy allowing them to be applied evenly. This allows the energy levels to be matched to the foods ability to dry. Therefore, in a continuous processing vacuum microwave dehydrator, the energy levels can be controlled throughout the drying process and prevent the food from overheating.

Key Features of NuWave’s Machines

Our proprietary RLTD technology dries faster, and more consistently than any other machine on the market using a proven core technology that can be customized as needed.

Compact Food Grade System

NuWave’s core systems feature large chambers, approximately 20 to 30 feet long. Food-grade trays are fed into and removed from the chamers in a continuous automated process that can be run for up to 24 hours a day.

Customization

We have an in-house team of engineers, scientists and fabricators who can tailor fit the solution for each customer. We currently have 5 standard models that are either a batch or continuous system. The larger scale continuous systems are modular, scalable and portable.

Preservation of Product Integrity

The pressure is lowered to create a vacuum inside the chambers. This allows the water to become vapor (‘boil’) at slightly above room temperature, without heating the nutrients. By heating the water rather than the nutrients, NuWave can provide superior flavor and texture, while preserving the nutritive value of food at harvest.

Microwave Assisted Extraction

NuWave’s closed-looped system condenses vapors and captures them in a container more rapidly and with better yield compared to conventional extraction methods. Suitable for thermolabile substances such as essential oils from food products e.g. CBD oil.

Microwave Assisted Organic Synthesis (MAOS)

Bring Your Ideas to Fruition With NuWave

Microwave-Assisted Organic Synthesis (MAOS) applies microwaves to the preparation of desired organic compounds. Microwaves can heat organic compounds like fiber, proteins, sugars and fats quickly. Two or more of these compounds can be heated up and coupled under a microwave in order to develop new products. MAOS is a process we can utilize to help customers develop new products by taking an idea that’s on paper and bringing it to life.
